Day 64
One of my former clients was a spontaneous amputee. She was born without hands. An excellent student, and beautiful her goal was to become a nurse. Initially, she found a job at a prestigious teaching hospital and I just read that a nurse she has become.
My first teaching job was as Head Teacher at the University of California Santa Barbara Childcare center. We were idealists and followed our beliefs. With a nurse on staff, we welcomed babies will many severe conditions. One of the parents was named Laura who had a leg amputated as a child to Cancer. When she came to get her son Shawn, the noise of the crutch was recognizable. Her son yelled "Mommy, Mommy".
Now I am working with a brilliant student of Ukrainian background. She is applying to graduate school and will eventually work in adaptive dentistry. She writes about serving institutionalized adults. "Dentistry for all".
I believe this so much, we educate through knowing and by knowing in most cases comes loving. I am thrilled with Peloton's new instructor Logan Aldridge. I took a class, that I believe will benefit all whether in need of adaptive techniques. His class was reviewed by Dr. Adrianne Haslet a Boston Marathon survivor. However as we know differences are not defining- it is the quality of the heart...
