Day 18 - The Creative Spirit
Two of my college prep students may never meet, and yet they had something in common. Both of my students were musicians, one a Tubist and the other a Violinist. Each felt quite alone in high school, although they participated in marching bands, orchestra's and other activities. However. one loved EDM music, of which he felt none of his peers appreciated, and the other moved away from a culture of Mean girls. Each wrote essays on being involved but lonely. They spent so much time applying to college, making supplements, going on auditions and seeking scholarships. The results came in and I assume lonely no more. These two musicians were accepted to so many amazing music programs. Among the choices are Frost School of Music at University of Miami, Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University, Drexel University in Music technology and business, University of Southern California, Berklee College of Music, The Hartt School of Music at University of Hartford, Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, Pennsylvania State University for Music Technology.... I left out some.. moral-follow one's heart- the creative spirit can thrive.
